Fear of Intimacy

Fear of intimacy is an epidemic and growing problem in our society.  It causes extraordinary levels of pain, despair and isolation.  It is a secret condition, much misunderstood but from which millions suffer, often without any hope of resolution or healing.  Fear of Intimacy lies at the heart of many common conditions such as:

• depression

• anxiety

• relationship breakdowns

• obsession

• addiction

• suicidal tendencies

• sexual dysfunctions

While fear of intimacy may result from background factors in early life experience the solution to this problem and a permanent life-long recovery does not necessarily come from an exhaustive analysis of the causes.  Instead what has been shown to be most effective is a current, direct experience of the healing power of intimacy in the present.  ICASA has over fifteen years experience in successfully treating all forms of fear of intimacy and sexual dysfunctions through the ICASA Ten Step Recovery Programme which may also include Surrogate Partner Therapy where appropriate.

Transpersonal Therapy

Many people are ruled by fears to one degree or another. For example, fear of failure or not being good enough; insecurities about the future or feelings of guilt about the past. Still others are victims, not only to stress or anxieties but to the actual force of fear itself. Fear of sickness, of death or dying; fear of old age or loneliness rule and control their minds and actions.

The greatest longing in the human heart is for love and yet the incredible energy and feeling of love itself is often the very thing that strikes fear into the heart of depressed people who believe that they are cut off and stuck in isolation. The root of fear lies in the idea of being separate and somehow faulty, incomplete. The idea of separation or isolation is a belief in the ultimate separation – from love. Discovering connection to the energy of love that is innate within every human being heals fear by transforming ‘stuck’ energy into joy. Whatever the external situations may be that trigger fear within the individual – and to whatever degree the fear is experienced – fear is totally curable through direct experience of the energy of love.

The therapeutic approach best suited to this arena of healing – one that helps the individual to transform their current experience rather than to analyse the roots of their problems – is transpersonal therapy. The essential elements for healing are trust, breath, energy, consciousness, awareness and utilising the power of the will. By discovering the unlimited resources within one’s self through step by step exercises and practises an individual is able to permanently change his or her state of being.  

Emotional Healing

For those recognising the need of facing and clearing the deepest issues behind their emotional or physical dis-ease and who seek a greater clarity of purpose.

Stored inside the body can be physical and emotional blocks resulting from unhelpful conditioning.  These may be linked to unresolved painful memories which, through an inner journey of discovery, can be healed through the uncovering of these subconscious blocks.  This can result in a profound, emotional and cellular healing.
